They have developed a new way to simulate protein folding ("distributed dynamics") which should remove the previous barriers to simulating protein folding. However, this method is extremely computationally demanding. To achieve a significant speedup, they need lots of processors in a given run. By running their client software, you can lend them your machine for as long as you like.

These sites are maintained by the Computer Incident Advisory Capability (CIAC) at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). CIAC is a member of CERT.

Focus is on U.S. domestic flights so don't expect as much for flights outside the U.S. You don't have to be a member to use the service.
